BOYS BASKETBALL

Stars down Athenians

Western Boone defeated Crawfordsville 58-53 in Dover on Thursday. The Sagamore Athletic Conference victory was the third straight win for the Stars.

No individual statistics were available.

Crawfordsville (6-10, 2-3 SAC) will travel to McCutcheon on Tuesday.

 

Tri-West edges Mounties

Tri-West came to Southmont on Thursday and left with a key Sagamore Athletic Conference victory. The Bruins won a physical game 68-60 and kept their conference record perfect in five games.

After playing to a 13 tie in the first quarter, the Bruins were able to extend their lead every quarter. The Mounties had several opportunities to win the game but came up just short.

Southmont was led by Vince Reimondo’s 17 points. Also scoring in double figures was Austin Foley with 13 points along with Aaron McMasters and Caden Miller who each scored 10.

The Mounties (10-5, 4-2 SAC) will host Parke Heritage (15-4) at 2:30 p.m. today.

 

Covington beats Mustangs

Fountain Central lost to Wabash River Conference foe Covington 27-23 on Thursday.

No individual statistics were available.

Covington (9-11, 3-2 WRC) hosted Seeger on Friday.

Fountain Central (4-12, 0-4 WRC) will play at 2:30 p.m. today at Rossville (12-5).

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Mountie wrestlers stay undefeated

Southmont’s Junior High wrestling team defeated North Clay 86-24 to go 3-0 on the young season.

The Mounties won 12 of 14 contested weight classes including 10 by pins.

Southmont will travel Tuesday to Cascade.

 

Chargers beat Danville

North Montgomery Middle School’s girls seventh-grade team defeated Danville 15-13 on Thursday.

Olivia Nuppnau led the Chargers with 10 points and four rebounds.

The Chargers will host Tri-West on Monday.
