Mustangs down Stars

Fountain Central used a dominating second half Thursday to beat Western Boone 49-39.

The Stars held a 28-17 halftime lead, but the Mustangs held Western Boone to just 11 second half points. Meanwhile the Mustang offense scored 32 in the final half.

Fountain Central’s Hannah Prickett led her team with 15 points, all scored in the second half.

Henley Good added 14 points and Brailey Hoagland scored 13.

Fountain Central (13-3) will host Covington (4-11) on Monday on Senior Night.

 

Athenians beat South Vermillion

Crawfordsville played South Vermillion on Thursday and came away with their second win of the season.

The Athenians beat the Wildcats 59-19 to keep South Vermillion winless.

No individual statistics were available.

The Athenians (2-13) will host Speedway (4-9) 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

 

SWIMMING

Crawfordsville sweeps Cougars and Hot Dogs

Crawfordsville boys’ and girls’ swim and dive teams each won two dual meets Thursday.

The girls defeated North Putnam 129-58 and Frankfort 135-22. The Athenian boys defeated North Putnam 106-74 and Frankfort 142-33.

The girls won 10 events, including the 200-medley relay (2:00.92) with the team of Marie Hesler, Guinevere Schmitzter-Tobert, Sophia Melevage and Ellie Walker.

Schmitzer-Torbert won the 100 breast (1:11.32) and was a member of the winning 200 free relay (1:47.44) team of Maesa Horton, Hesler and Melevage.

Hesler won the 200 free (2:11.37) and 500 free (5:48.64). Horton won the 50 free (26.47) and 100 free (58.93).

Melevage won the 100 fly (1:03.8) and Walker won the 100 back (1:08.26).

The boys won five events.

The 200 medley relay (1:53.05) team of Henry Hoar, Braxton Lewellen, Shawn Ewoldt and Daniel Surface won.

Adrian Medina won the 200 free (1:35.01) and 100 free (53.19).

Ewoldt won the 200 IM (2:21.46) and Hoar won the 100 fly (1:00.29).

 

FC splits with Terre Haute North

The Fountain Central boys’ swim and dive team defeated Terre Haute North 58-54 on Thursday.

Mustang William Armstrong continued his strong season with a win in diving.

Brody Larkin set a personal best in the 50 free in his win in a time of 26.21.

Armstong, Larken, Eli Sowder and Greg Harrison won the 400 free relay.

Harrison won the 200 IM and Sowder won the 100 free and the 100 back.

The Mustang girls lost 99-70.

The Fountain Central 200 medley relay team of Mila Nix, Lilly Robinson, Allie Dotson and Katie Dillon won as did the 200 free relay team of Lexi Willoughby, Hannah Brownfiled, Hayley Kler and Nix.

Peyton Hocking won the diving event.

The Mustangs will compete at the Delphi Invitational on Saturday.

 

BOYS WRESTLING

Athenians defeat Mustangs

Crawfordsville celebrated Senior Night with a 62-12 win over Fountain Central.

Winning for the Athenians were Taiga Koyanagi (106), Carlos Guitierrez (113), Armando Munoz (126), Blayze Robbins (132), Landon Vaught (150), Kollin Moore (157), Jaziel Gil-Hererra (165), Braeden Hites (175), John Pennington (190), Diego Castillo (215) and Keegan Cokel (285).

Crawfordsville is participating today in the IHSCA Team State at Jay County High School.

 

Chargers defeat North Putnam

North Montgomery defeated North Putnam 46-24 on Thursday.

No individual statistics were available.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

North schedule change

North Montgomery’s postponed Jan. 7 home game against Sheridan has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 22.
