Mustangs deliver win
Fountain Central traveled Wednesday to South Newton and won 69-13.
The Mustangs forced 33 Rebel turnovers.
Hannah Prickett scored 21 points and Halen McBride added 11 points.
South Newton (0-15) was behind 20-5 at the end of the first quarter and the game never got closer.
Next up for the Mustangs (16-3) is a WRC contest Tuesday at Riverton Park.
Chargers drop game to Cougars
North Montgomery traveled to future Monon Athletic Conference foe North Putnam on Wednesday and lost 59-49.
The score at the half was 28-27 in favor of the Cougars. A 14-6 scoring advantage in the third quarter put the Chargers at a disadvantage they could not overcome.
Charger Piper Ramey scored 17 points and Macee Norman added 11 points.
Junior Jenna Day led North Putnam with 15 points. Other double digit-scorers for North Putnam were Rose Haste 13, Jacey Huffman 11 and Mel Davies with 10.
North Montgomery (13-6) will play today at Danville as part of a girl/boy doubleheader.
With the win, North Putnam (9-7) broke a five-game losing streak and plays at Greencastle in a girl/boy doubleheader.
Mounties drop game to Tri-West
Southmont lost Wednesday to Tri-West 67-53 at home.
The Mounties were outscored 30-19 in the second quarter giving the Bruins (9-9) a 42-27 advantage at halftime.
No individual statistics were available.
The Mounties (5-10) will host Seeger (7-9) today in a girl/boy doubleheader.
Speedway tops Athenians
Crawfordsville dropped a Sagamore Conference game to Western Boone on Tuesday by a score of 53-36.
Celeste Moore led the Athenians with nine points. Molly Pierce and Litzy Hueca each added eight points.
Crawfordsville (2-15, 0-5 SAC) played at Cloverdale on Thursday and will host Covington on Tuesday.
WRESTLING
Athenians defeat LCC
Crawfordsville’s wrestling team defeated Lafayette Central Catholic 70-11 on Wednesday.
The Knights forfeited seven weight classes in the meet.
Winning for the Athenians were Jamil Jimenez (132-fall), Blayze Robbins (138- tech fall), Jaziel Gil-Herrera (165-fall), John Pennington (190-fall), Diego Castillo (215-fall) and Keegan Cokel (185-fall).
Crawfordsville will wrestle Saturday in the Sagamore Athletic Conference Tournament at North Montgomery. Competition begin at
9 a.m.
