Parke Heritage defeats Mustangs
Fountain Central traveled to Parke Heritage on Thursday for a key Wabash River Conference game and were defeated 43-29.
The Mustangs were trailing 33-25 after three quarters, but the Wolves (17-4, 6-0) dominated the final stanza by outscoring Fountain Central 10-2 to win the WRC tilt.
Brailey Hoagland led Fountain Central with nine points and Kailey Spragg added seven points.
Fountain Central (16-4, 4-1 WRC) will travel Tuesday to South Vermillion.
Mounties roast Hotdogs
Southmont had little trouble Thursday against the visiting Frankfort. The Mounties won 64-28.
Southmont used a 28-1 second quarter run and led 40-18 at the half.
Mountie freshman Ella Barry had a career-high 30 points. Claire Kessler added 11 points.
Southmont (7-10, 3-2 SAC) will play Saturday at Crawfordsville in a girl/boy doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.
SWIMMING
Brownsburg sweeps Athenians
Crawfordsville’s girls and boys swim teams were swept Thursday by Brownsburg. The girls were defeated 121-63 and the boys lost 145-26.
The girls were able to win two events.
Masea Horton was victorious in the 50 free with a time of 25.02. The 200 free medley team of Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert, Sophia Melevage, Ellie Walker and Horton won with a time of 1:45.65.
The Athenian boys swam well but were unable to earn a first-place finish against the deep Bulldogs.
The Athenian girls are now 10-2 and the boys are 9-3.
Crawfordsville played host to the Athenian Invitational with diving competition on Friday. The swimming invitational begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
WRESTLING
Mustangs sneak by Bison
Fountain Central beat Benton Central 39-36 on Thursday.
Winning for Fountain Central were Dakoda Willoughby (144, fall), Asher Davis (150, fall), Bryson Davis (157, fall), Caylum Wills (175, fall) and Colby Golia (285, fall).
