Athenians sweep own invite
Crawfordsville’s boy and girls teams swept the Athenian Invitational on Saturday.
The girls finished with 533 points. Second place North Montgomery 455 points and Southmont finished 99 points.
In the boys meet, Crawfordsville scored 465.5 points and second place McCutcheon scored 455 points. The Chargers were seventh with 212 points and Southmont was eighth with 146 points.

Fountain Central claims 3rd in WRC
Fountain Central finished in third place in Saturday’s Wabash River Championship.
Mustang William Armstrong took home top honors in diving.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Tigers beat Chargers
North Montgomery was defeated 53-44 at home on Friday in a Sagamore Conference game.
The Chargers got off to a good start and led 16-12 in the first quarter. After three quarters the game was still close with the Tigers holding a 35-32 lead.
Lebanon knocked down free throws to secure the win. For the game the Tigers hit 16-of-21 charity tosses while the Chargers struggled from the line by hitting just 4-of-13.
North Montgomery was led by Kelby Harwood’s 19 points and seven rebounds. Colton Zachary came off the bench and contributed 10 points.
Joel Acton scored led Lebanon (11-4, 4-2 SAC) with 14 points.
North Montgomery (4-9, 0-4 SAC) travels to West Lafayette (12-3) today.
Covington squeaks by Mounties
After leading at halftime 32-24, Southmont could not close the deal. Covington used a 23-16 third quarter advantage to come-from-behind to defeat the Mounties 59-58 on Friday.
South’s Vince Reimondo scored 16 points and Dean McGuahgey added 14.
After Saturday’s win against Crawfordsville, Southmont is 10-3. The Mounties play at Lebanon on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Chargers drop game to Lebanon
Lebanon defeated North Montgomery 46-33 on Friday. The game was the Chargers’ Senior Night.
Seniors Piper Ramey, Krestyn Bradford and Blair Nichols were honored after the game.
The Chargers (14-4, 2-4 SAC) will complete their season Friday at Western Boone. The girl/boy doubleheader will be played at Thorntown Elementary.
BOYS WRESTLING
Mounties win invite
The Southmont wrestling team traveled Saturday to Culver Military Academy for an eight-team invitational, and came home as the champions.
Freshman Lukas Scott continued his winning ways by winning the 106 weight class with a 3-0 record.
Three Mounties, Camden Laney (138), Josh Elliott (144) and Tyler Davis (215), finished second.
Southmont scored 184 points. Second place Concord scored 166 points.
Mustangs place 3rd in WRC
Fountain Central’s wrestling team finished in third place in the Wabash River Conference Championship.
Alan Mechor (132) and heavyweight Colby Golia were crowned champions.
