Hoagland earns All-Star honors

Fountain Central’s Brailey Hoagland was named to the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches All-Star team.

Hoagland, a senior, finished her high school career with four Fountain Central records. She is the top Mustang in the 100M, 200M, 400M and long jump.

She finished 13th at the state finals this past weekend.

Hoagland was chosen to participate in the 51st Annual Midwest Meet of Champions.

 

BASEBALL

Post 72 beats Terre Haute

American Legion Post 72 picked up its first win of the young season by beating Terre Haute 7-5.

The local team took a 7-3 lead after five innings and hung on for the victory.

Leading Post 72 offensively was Jude Coursey who was 2-for-4 at the plate. Coursey had a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning. Aiden Riser was also 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Cale Chadd was 1-for-1 and scored two runs.

DJ Gilkey earned the win in relief of starter Charlie Belcher who pitched four innings and surrendered one run.

Post 72 (2-1) will travel Thursday to Watseka, Illinois for a 7 p.m. game.
