Mustangs move on to championship

Fountain Central advanced to Monday’s 1A Riverton Parke Sectional championship by defeating North Vermillion 6-2 on Saturday.

Fountain Central (7-18)  rode the arms of Uriah Wildman and Bryson Davis. Wildman pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three. Davis pitched the final 2.2 innings and surrendered just one hit and struck out four to close the deal.

Wildman also led the offense with two hits and scored twice. Wyatt Clark had two RBI on a single in the three-run third inning putting the Mustangs ahead 5-1.

The championship game was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 2. The Mustangs played Riverton Parke (17-9) who defeated Covington 2-0 in Saturday’s semi-final action.

Delphi, Central Catholic advance

Delphi defeated Seeger 6-3 in the second game of the Central Catholic 2A Sectional. Delphi advance to Monday’s championship game against Central Catholic. The Knights defeated Benton Central 12-2 in the other semi-final game.

 

SOFTBALL

Tigers win sectional

Lebanon defeated Danville 4-1 in Saturday’s 3A championship game. Lebanon (23-10) plays Cathedral (25-2) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3.

Hornets capture crown

Rossville won its own 2A Sectional on Saturday. The Hornets defeated Delphi 15-1 in five innings on Saturday. Rossville (22-5) plays Rochester (21-4) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 at Rossville.
