MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING
South wins county
Southmont Junior High won the county wrestling meet in dominating fashion on Tuesday.
The Mounties defeated Crawfordsville 82-15 and North Montgomery 76-27.
Champions for Southmont were Sully Roark, Easton Kelsey, Emery Light, Hunter Chieppo, Alexa Whitlow, Samuel Haslam, Gavin Mason, Tyson Kelsey, Kasen Bushong, Neyo Holmes, Kai Lewin, Chance Brock and Caiden Halstead.
Ruger Foster, Josiah Lawrence, Derek Hale and Shawn Covault earned second place finishes and Luke Light earned a third place finish for the Mounties.
No individual results from Crawfordsville or North Montgomery were reported.
Next up for the three county wrestling teams will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Southmont for the Sagamore Athletic Conference championship.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL
North 7th grade beats Athenians
North Montgomery Middle School’s seventh grade team defeated Crawfordsville 31-12 on Tuesday.
The Chargers were led by Olivia Nuppnau’s 14 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
Bella Hutson scored six points for North.
No statistics from Crawfordsville were made available.
The Chargers complete their season with a 10-8 record.
