BOYS BASKETBALL

Mustangs bow out of sectional

Fountain Central concluded its season with a 45-27 loss against Lafayette Central Catholic in the 1A North Vermillion Sectional on Wednesday.

The Mustangs were in the game at halftime trailing only 16-10. A 14-2 disadvantage in the third quarter gave Central Catholic a 30-12 lead going into the fourth stanza.

The Knights improve their record to 10-14 and will face the winner between Riverton Parke and Attica.

A power outage forced a postponement of the second game Wednesday between Riverton Parke and Attica. Both teams were ready for pregame warmups when the gymnasium went dark.

The game was rescheduled to be played at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Area girls win academic award

The following local girls basketball players were named to the 2024-25 Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association All-State teams.

Earning a spot on the honorable mention team were Celeste Moore of Crawfordsville and Blair Nichols of North Montgomery.

Fountain Central was represented on the honorable mention team by Bailey Hoagland, Rylee Simko and Hannah Prickett.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

North 7th grade wins two more

North Montgomery Middle School’s seventh grade defeated Wainwright 31-1 on Monday.

The Chargers were led by Olivia Nuppnau and Bryn Fitch who each scored nine points.

All nine North players scored in the game.

North Montgomery is now 8-7 and will play at home versus North Putnam on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the team defeated Sheridan 37-6.

Nuppnau scored 11 points and Fitch added 10 points. Alice Templeman scored six points and pulled in six rebounds. Kolbi Murphy and Nuppnau each recorded five rebounds.

The Chargers are now 9-8 and will complete their season Monday at Crawfordsville.

 

Mustangs lose to rival

Fountain Central seventh grade lost 20-10 to Covington on Monday.

Mari Montro Leon led the Mustangs with four points.

Fountain Central travels today to South Vermillion.
