Athenians second at Jeff

On Saturday the CHS boys’ tennis team placed second in the team standings at the Lafayette Jeff Booster Tennis Tournament, losing only to Culver Academy.

The Athenians defeated Harrison, McCutcheon, Plymouth, Logansport, and Lafayette Jeff.

Athenian Wyatt Motz finished first in the No. 2 singles draw and Jude Coursey finished second in the No. 3 singles. Crawfordsville’s Jude Hutchison and Henry Bannon finished second in No. 1 doubles.

“I was really proud of the way the team competed and continued to improve this weekend,” Crawfordsville coach Craig Brainard said. “They have shown great strides through a difficult stretch of the season, and I think their hard work will pay off as we finish out the regular season over the next couple of weeks.”

Crawfordsville celebrated senior night at home on Monday against North Montgomery.     

 

Mustangs win Seeger Invite

Fountain Central’s boys’ tennis team continued its winning ways by capturing the Seeger Invitational on Saturday. The Mustangs earned individual championships at No. 2 singles, No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.

All Mustang players earned a spot in the finals by winning their first contest of the day.

Champions for the Mustangs were No. 2 singles player Skyler Hoagland and No. 3 singles player Ayden Batchelor.  Also, the No. 2 doubles team of  William Armstrong and Jose Duarte-Grajales earned a championship.

Fountain Central hosted Seeger on Monday in a Wabash River Conference contest.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Chargers fall to Danville

North Montgomery lost 9-0 at Danville on Saturday.

Charger Coach Tristain Hall said his young team is still growing and learning.

“A lot of young guys got the opportunity to play on Saturday,” Hall said. “I am very proud of the fight they put up but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

The Chargers (1-7, 0-4 SAC) will travel to Sheridan today and battle Lebanon on Thursday at home.

 

VOLLEYBALL

Mustangs compete at Rossville

Fountain Central went 1-3 at Saturday’s Hornet Invitational at Rossville.

The lone victory was 2-0 over Attica. Scores were 25-20, 25-11.

The Mustangs fell to Rossville, Logansport and Mississinewa.

Fountain Central will play at home today against Attica in a Wabash River Conference battle and will travel on Thursday to rival Covington.

 

GOLF

Mustangs earn all-conference

Fountain Central’s golfers Autumn Payne and Bella Bacon were named to the Wabash River Conference all-conference team on Saturday at Harrison Hills.

Payne recorded a 101 and Bacon shot a 105 to earn the honors.

Covington won the WRC golf championship.

The Mustang played their last regular season match on Monday against Tri-West.
