Crawfordsville Pride is planning Montgomery County’s first Pride Festival from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 22 at Pike Place.
Crawfordsville Pride was created in 2019, aiming to create safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals in Montgomery County. Its mission is to cultivate a supportive and affirming environment where everyone can comfortably be their authentic selves. As the organization continues to expand, it is dedicated to broadening outreach and providing various resources to the community, including educational programs, support services and events that promote diversity and equality.
This festival is the first of its kind in the county.
“This festival is a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Montgomery County,” said Morgan Vesey, Crawfordsville Pride board chair and executive director. “In a world that still denies individuals in the LGBTQ+ community the freedom to express themselves, we are reaffirming their worth, visibility and significance.”
The upcoming festival will have a total of 36 vendors participating, with a focus on showcasing local nonprofit resources and small businesses. In addition to browsing and shopping, attendees will have the opportunity to receive free HIV and HEP-C testing services on-site. Culinary enthusiasts can look forward to indulging in a variety of foods offered by vendors. There also will be a dedicated kids’ zone featuring a variety of activities.
The entertainment lineup includes a dance party from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The musical performances by Nellie Bly, Ca.thar.sis and Coffinsville are not to be missed, bringing lively energy and diverse sounds to the event.
The festival will culminate with a drag show from 6:30-8 p.m.
