Quilters Holiday Bazaar returns Saturday

Posted

Sugar Creek Quilters’ 24th annual Holiday Bazaar will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crawfordsville District Public Library’s lower level community rooms.

Known for fine workmanship, the quilters will offer many quilted gift items for sale at reasonable prices. Shoppers can expect to find handmade wall hangings, table runners, ornaments, purses, quilts and many other holiday/non-holiday items. In addition, baked items will be offered for sale.

Sugar Creek Quilters use the proceeds to fund programs and for charity projects for the community. Quilters have donated quilts to the Women’s Resource Center, Montgomery County Free Clinic, Marie Canine Cancer Center as well as to patients in veterans’ hospitals.

Anyone interested in joining Sugar Creek Quilters is invited to attend a meeting. Meetings are held in a community room of the library at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Meetings consist of educational programs and a show and tell time when members share their work.

Usually there is a “quilt bee” monthly  hosted by various members of the guild, members gather together bringing their own project to work on while they visit and exchange ideas with each other.

Periodic workshops are offered to help quilters improve their skills. Two retreats are usually held each year. One is a weekend retreat held at the First Christian Church during the fall. Quilters may come and go at their discretion to work on group projects or individual projects. A spring retreat happens at Threads of Time in Danville, Illinois. Participants can stay overnight in the shop’s comfortable facilities, or they may come and go as they please. This retreat is usually scheduled for late March or early April.
