Ramey exceeds 1,000 career points in win

Charger senior Piper Ramey went over 1,000 career points in North Montgomery’s 45-39 victory over Greencastle on Tuesday.

Ramey needed seven points to put her at the coveted milestone and she accomplished the feat midway in the second quarter. Ramey ended the game with 15 points giving her 1,008 career points with more games to be played.

Ramey is the fifth Charger girl basketball player to surpass 1,000 points. She now sets in fourth place all-time scorers and is 40 points from moving into third place in the Charger records presently owned by Kelsi Byrd.

The all-time leading Charger scorer is Ashley (Buis) Beal with 1,362 points. Second all-time scorer is Brittany (Lee) Heidi with 1,357 points.

Macee Norman led the Chargers with 16 points in Tuesday’s victory.

North Putnam (7-12) was led by Mikinley Cantonwine and Sarah Simmermon who each scored eight points.

North Montgomery (13-5) will play at Danville (14-4) on Friday in a girl/boy doubleheader.
