Comments made in a letter to the editor published Wednesday in the Journal Review from Mark Roberts of Crawfordsville were directed at the chief executive officer of Stock+Field (formerly Big R) and not members of the local store’s management team and staff. He regrets the negativity that has been directed towards them, and remains hopeful that the company will reverse its decision to keep Salvation Army bell ringers from collecting outside the local store.
I am a firm believer in this community. I love this community and the people in it. I know that in difficult times people have stepped up to support those who need help. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle drive has been a great part of this community with the help of some awesome partners including our Stock+Field (formerly Big R) store.
As of this morning I received a call from Stock+Field to let me know that the Red Kettle drive will no longer be welcome there. What a shame. The store has been a great addition to this community, however, as of this morning Stock+Field stores will no longer get any of my support.
I pray others in this community will do the same. I believe if you are in this community, support this community, and if you’re not, then it’s time to leave.
