National Poppy Day will be celebrated this year on Friday. On this day, members of the American Legion Auxiliary will have a table set up outside of The Breakfast Company from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a table set up outside Fusion 54 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. distributing poppies and accepting donations. Money collected from the poppies goes to help pay for a service dog for a veteran and toward a $500 donation to the Service Flight program. The auxiliary also puts together holiday gift bags for the veterans who reside in area nursing homes. They also help at the Veterans Home in Lafayette. All donations are appreciated.
