Relay for Life event will rock

Posted

This year, the Montgomery County Relay for Life will be “Rocking to the Oldies for a Cure.”

The annual fundraiser is slated from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Crawfordsville National Guard Armory. DJ for the event is Bill Douglas.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the welcoming ceremony at noon.

A Relay for Life Benefit Pageant will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with registration from noon to 12:30 p.m. At some point during the activities, organizers say Elvis will be in the building.

Finger foods and entertainment will be available throughout the day. The silent auction will end at 5:30 p.m.

Organizers are also planning a cake decorating contest. To enter, call Becky Hankins at 765-362-8064. Decorations are to follow the relay theme of Rocking to the Oldies for a Cure.

Additional vendors are still welcome to participate. Interested vendors should send a text to Cindy Biddle at 765-366-5120.

The survivor meal will be served at 5 p.m. and the luminaire ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. The names will be broadcast on the local radio station.

“This is to show our support to those who have beat cancer and to those who have, unfortunately, lost their battle to cancer,” Biddle said. “It also shows the families and friends of the people who have lost their battle that we honor them.”

All of the money donated stays in Montgomery County.
