Richard Earl Smith, 75, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at his residence.
Richard had a tremendous love of all animals and his grandchildren; they were his world. He enjoyed traveling and driving a semi. He was an Air Force veteran and served in the Presidential Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Freeman Hood Funeral Services, 10070 Highway 78, Jasper, Alabama. A memorial service with military honors will follow at 11 a.m. with Juanita Davis officiating
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his father, Richard Harrison Smith; his mother, Elsie Shuff Smith; sisters, Marilyn Elaine Barnett and Dorita Ann Phelps; and grandparents George and Flossie Smith and George and Frances Shuff.
He is survived by his granddaughters, Kasey Sparks (who is more like a daughter) and her husband Tyson and Jesse Millbern and her husband Andrew; sister Kay Eubanks; brother Ray Smith and his wife Shelli; niece Callie Elaine Phelps; and six great-grandchildren.
