Rita Jo Fruits, 68, of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Majestic Care of Sheridan.
She was born Aug. 8, 1952, at Lafayette, to the late Charles Ray Fruits and Delores Maxine (Smith) Zachary.
Rita attended Coal Creek High School and graduated from North Montgomery High School in 1971. She enjoyed watching soap operas, collecting stuffed animals, playing bingo and church activities. She loved her nieces and nephews and being around people.
Rita is survived by three sisters, Melinda (Ed) Sutherlin, Tamara (David) Hole and Karen (Steve) Whitaker; two brothers, Jeff (Dawn) Zachary and Chris (Annie) Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents; step-father Lloyd Zachary; and nephew Thomas Franklin.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at New Richmond Cemetery, with Pastor David Hole officiating. Sanders Priebe funeral care is entrusted with care.
