Robert “Bob” Wittenmyer, 95, of Rockville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.
He retired from Garrard Excavating with many years of service.
He was born March 24, 1926, at Bloomingdale, to the late George O. Wittenmyer and Angelina “Lina” Brower Wittenmyer.
Survivors include: his wife of 74 years, Opal Smedley Wittenmyer, whom he married Mach 22, 1947, at Bloomingdale; two sons, John (Carol) Wittenmyer of Crawfordsville and Don (Vickie) Wittenmyer of Waveland; daughter-in-law Cassie Wittenmyer of Rockville; four grandchildren, Dereth Kirby, Meredith Harrison, Andrea Wittenmyer and Curtis Wilson; and four great-grandchildren, Carly, Dylan, Daphne and Darcy.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Wittenmyer on April 8, 2019.
He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He attended the Nyesville Full Gospel Fellowship Church. He was a member of American Legion Fellenzer Post 48 in Rockville and Labors Local 204 in Terre Haute.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville. Burial with military graveside honors by Parke County veterans will follow at Bloomingdale Friends Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at Gooch Funeral Home.
