Robert Ollie “Bob” Clawson, 91, of rural Veedersburg passed away 10:25 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2022, at Compassus Hospice, Indianapolis.

Bob was born Nov. 17, 1930, at Booneville, Missouri, the son of Ollie and Ruth Ann (Boord) Clawson. He married Betty L. Drollinger on March 13, 1959, at Sterling. She preceded him in death May 24, 2002.

He also is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph (Thelma) Clawson and Leo (Getrude) Clawson.

Surviving family include: three daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Campbell, Veedersburg, Sue Ann (John) Anderson, Veedersburg, and Tina (Kurt) Abernathy, St. Cloud, Florida; four grandchildren, Robert (Dava) Campbell, Carly (Chris) Coon, Whitney (Vinny) Ferraiuolo and Emma Campbell; and five great-grandchildren, Olin Campbell, Ethelyn Campbell, Charly Coon, Cady Coon and Blake Ferraiuolo.

Bob graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1949. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Throughout his life he had been employed at Olin near Covington, Ed Powers Construction in Veedersburg, and for many years as a self-employed carpenter and farmer. He also enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle in his younger years. More than anything he loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #288 in Veedersburg and V.F.W. in Covington.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, March 13 at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14 at the funeral home, with Pastor Dusty Woodrow officiating. Burial is at Osborn Prairie Cemetery near Veedersburg, with military honors provided by American Legion Post #288 and the U.S. Air Force. Memorial contributions may be given to Osborn Prairie Cemetery, envelopes available at the funeral home.
