CHICAGO — The Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago has announced its first 20 recipients of its newly created Distinguished Teacher program, including Jeremy Robinson, an English teacher at Noble’s Rauner College Prep. Robinson is a 2004 graduate of Wabash College who later became a Rhodes Scholar. Distinguished Teacher provides an industry-changing
approach to celebrating and rewarding teachers who are achieving an exceptional impact with students. Among other benefits, each Distinguished Teacher will receive $10,000 annually for as long as they remain teachers at Noble.
“Being named a Distinguished Teacher has immediately become one of the highlights of my 13-year career in education,” Robinson said. “In a world that frequently forgets to value the educators that strive, often selflessly, to raise and nurture its children, my status as a Distinguished Teacher unambiguously convinces me that I matter. It shows me, in a very concrete way, that the exceptional work I strive to accomplish with my students is not merely noticed but honored.”
Since graduating from Wabash College with a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish, Robinson became a Rhodes Scholar, graduating with one master’s degree from Oxford University in England and a second master’s from Dominican University in Illinois. From there, Robinson spent two years teaching through Teach For America before eventually beginning his career at Rauner College Prep, where he has served as 11th grade team leader, a teacher representative on the school’s leadership team, and the director of the school’s SAT boot camp, among other titles.
“Serving as a teacher provides me the opportunity to share my passions with the world. I love the written word and believe in its power to positively transform lives,” Robinson said. “Getting up each morning with the knowledge that I will have a chance to share that power with Chicago’s greatest treasure — its children — is something that fills me with abundant happiness. I also love building relationships with my students and their families and helping them achieve the many dreams they have for their lives.”
