Rodger Lee Runyon, 70, of Waynetown passed away Sunday evening Feb. 23, 2020, at the Ben Hur Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Rodger was born Oct. 28, 1949, at Crawfordsville, and was the son of Cecil R. and Virginia E. (Westfall) Runyon and graduated from Crawfordsville High School. He served in the National Guard Reserves and worked in the electronic security field installing and maintaining security systems for many businesses, banks and homes.

Rodger had a passion for cooking and worked along side Ann Russell at Annie’s Kitchen in Waynetown and later helped at Hudson’s Grocery. He was a founding member of the Waynetown Community Watch program in town. He loved small town living and was a supporter of improvements to the park and community events. His pride and joy was his dog Dixie.

Rodger was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Marion and Bernice (Moore) Westfall; his father, Cecil Runyon; and his mother, Virginia E. Runyon, whom he lived with and cared for in her final years.

Rodger will be missed by his many friends and neighbors in the Waynetown community.

It was his wish to have a simple cremation and to have his ashes placed in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. His friends will conduct a celebration of his life with a balloon release and gathering at the Waynetown Park at a later date.

Those who wish to may remember him and his love of animals by making a donation to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
