Ronald D. Sparrow, 71, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at El Paso, Texas, after a long illness.
He was born June 13, 1949, at Bloomington, Illinois, on to Madge and Donald Sparrow Sr. The family moved to Crawfordsville when he was 4, and he called Crawfordsville his home town.
He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in June 1967. He joined the Air Force in November 1967 and served until March 1974, including a tour in Vietnam. He also served in the Indiana Army Guard at Shelbyville.
He moved to El Paso, Texas, in the fall of 1996, living there until his death.
He worked many different jobs, including 18 years as an over-the-road semi-truck driver, then as a private duty security guard including the international bridges in and around El Paso. He was declared a disabled veteran in February 2013 and retired.
He is survived by wife Linda of 50 years; brothers, Pete, Donald Jr. and David and sister Linda of Indiana; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces.
Calling and funeral services will be Wednesday, April 28 at Martin Funeral Home East at El Paso, Texas. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. April 28 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
