Rosemary “Rose” Kiger, 79, of Darlington passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette. She had been a patient there for three days and in failing health for the past several years.
Rosemary was born at home near Darlington on Sept. 24, 1945, to the late Eddie Lee and Dollie Marie (Zachary) Newlin and attended Darlington schools. She married Marion L. Kiger in Crawfordsville on Feb. 5, 1981. He preceded her in death April 30, 2022.
Rosemary farmed with her husband for over 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Calvary Church in Crawfordsville.
Surviving is a daughter, Belinda Kiger of Linden; three grandchildren, Amy Malelo, Cary Brock and Kyle Kiger; five great-grandchildren, Kiera, Angie and Kaydence Brock, Charlie and Xander Malelo; and a great-great-granddaughter, Dallas Brock. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by son John Alan Kiger; daughter Debra Griffin; five brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Harold, Jerry and Larry Newlin; and by three sisters, Betty Stonebraker, Doris Newlin and Diane Dagley.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden. Pastor Dave Keesee will officiate. Interment will follow in Linden Cemetery.
