Athenians sweep Mustangs in season opener

The Crawfordsville swimming and diving boys and girls teams opened up their 2021 season Tuesday night hosting Fountain Central. The Athenians picked up wins on each side to come away with a sweep of the Mustangs.

The girls took home a 117-54 win and the boys were victorious 127-54. 

Crawfordsville opens up Sagamore Conference action next Tuesday at Western Boone while the Mustangs will host Benton Central also next Tuesday.

Mounties meet conference foes

Southmont traveled to Danville to take on Sagamore Conference foes Tri-West and Danville Tuesday night.

On the girls side the lady Mounties split by defeating the Warriors but falling to the Bruins. Emily Smith, Faith Allen, and Marley Jones all picked up wins for the Mounties.

The boys were swept by both the Bruins and Warriors in the three-way meet.

Southmont will be back in the pool next Tuesday for their home opener to take on North Putnam and North Vermillion.

Chargers swept by Stars

North Montgomery was defeated on both the boys and girls sides by Western Boone Tuesday evening.

The boys fell 98-40 while the girls were beaten 124-53.

Annabel Anderson, Avery Wright and Jamason Burget were event winners for the Chargers.

The Chargers will host Frankfort next Tuesday.

Wrestling

Chargers grappler’s victorious over Mustangs

North Montgomery wrestling defeated Fountain Central Tuesday night 45-32.

Brayten Conkright, Nolan Yarger, Christian Hall, and Gage Galloway all picked up wins for the Chargers.

Michael Strawhorn, Waylon Frazee,and Steven Romero were victorious for Fountain Central.

North Montgomery hosts Harrison next Wednesday while the Mustangs will host their round robin tournament on Dec. 4

Boys Basketball

Mustangs bounce back in Topper  Classic, pick up first win 

Fountain Central boys basketball took on La Salette in game two of the Topper Classic in Danville (IL) Tuesday and came away with a 57-46 win.

The win was the first of the season for the Mustangs and the first for first-year head coach Greg Dean.

Mason Larkin recorded 14 points to lead the Mustangs in scoring. Luke Foxworthy and Carter Merryman each added in eight.

Fountain Central continues their competition in the Topper Classic by taking on Schlarman on Friday.
