Chargers fall to Red Devils at home

North Montgomery boys basketball hosted West Lafayette in a rare week-day matchup Tuesday and fell to the Red Devild 60-47.

The Chargers had three in double-figures led by freshman Kelby Harwood’s 14. Both Jakob and Jarrod Kirsch scored 11 in the loss for the Chargers and Ross Dyson added seven.

Micah Wood led all scorers in the game wiht 15 points for the Red Devils and also grabbed 22 rebounds, the second most in a game in school history. Wyatt Curl added in 12 for WL.

North Montgomery with loss falls to 1-12 on the season and will be back in action Friday as they welcome Sagamore Conference foe Western Boone to Linden as part of a girl/boy double-header. The Chargers will look to avenge their loss ealier in the season to the Stars in the Sugar Creek Classic.

Girls Basketball

Mustangs holds Wildcats scoreless in final quarter to complete comeback

Fountain Central hosted South Vermillion Tuesday and entered the final quarter trailing 24-18. However the Mustangs defense would hold the Wildcats scoreless in the final quarter and score seven points of their own to escape with a 25-24 win.

The Mustangs got the lead back for good on a Brailey Hoagland three-point play with under a minute to go.

Jerzi Hershberger led FC with nine points, eight rebounds and four assists. Larissa Bowers added seven points and seven rebounds.

Fountain Central improves to 7-13 on the season and will conclude the regular season Thursday when they hosr Riverton Parke.

Swimming and Diving

Athenians sweep Bronchos in pool

Crawfordsville traveled to Lafayette Jeff for a dual meet with the Broncho’s.

CHS swept the meet with the boys picking up a 111-66 win while the girls were victorious 97-80.

The Athenians girls will be off until next Thursday as they prepare for the sectional prelims at CHS. The boys will return to the pool on Feb. 8 as they host Greencastle.

Charger boys swept in by Tiger Cubs and Warriors

North Montgomery boys swimming hosted both Greencastle and Danville Tuesday for a three-team meet.

The Chargers would fall to both the Tiger Cubs (44-120) and Warriors (39-118) on the evening.

The boys and girls teams for the Chargers will be back in action on Thursday when they host Seeger.
