ROUNDUP: Chargers and Mounties compete on the mat, Athenians fall on hardwood and Chargers split in the pool

Mavericks edge out Mounties 

Southmont returned from the holiday break on Tuesday evening as the Mounties traveled to take on McCutcheon. In a very competitive match, the Mavericks  squeaked out a narrow 36-33 victory over the Mounties. 

Picking up wins for Southmont were Jeffrey Pine (126), Maddox Cade (132), Gerald Hutson (138), Marlin Williams (145), Kaden Newgent (152), Wyatt Woodall (195), and Zayden Dunn (Hwt). 

The Mounties drop just their second match of the season as they fall to 14-2. They'll now shift their focus to Team State on Saturday at Martinsville. 

Chargers down Trojans

North Montgomery traveled to Covington on Tuesday night and were able to pick up a 42-23 victory.

The Chargers are back in action Jan. 13 when they will host Seeger

Swim & Dive

Charger swimmers split with Red Ramblers

North Montgomery made the trip to Attica Tuesday in their return to action in the pool. The Chargers split the meet with the Red Ramblers as the girls were victorious 148- 23, while the boys fell 120-98.

The girls improve to 7-6 on the season while the boys fall to 2-7. 

The Chargers will return  to the pool Thursday when they travel to North Putnam. 

Girls Basketball

Athenians falls to Blackhawks at home

The Crawfordsville girls basketball team hosted Sheridan on Tuesday as they began the final month of play in the regular season. The Blackhawks would come away with a 54-34 win over the Athenians on the night. 

Taylor Abston led CHS with 10 points in the loss. Kearston Hutchens added in eight. 

The Athenians fall to  4-10 (0-4 SAC) and will travel to Speedway on Sautrday for an afternoon contest with the Sparkplugs.
