ROUNDUP: Wrestlers, Swimmers and girls hoops all in action on busy Thursday

Athenians swept on road by Raiders

Crawfordsville traveled to Harrison for a meet with a tough Raiders squad and were swept Thursday. The boys fell 65-111 while the girls were defeated 61-121.

Marshall Horton, Tristian Callejas, Sophia Melevage, and Alyx Bannon were all winners for the Athenians on the night.

Crawfordsvillle will be back on the road Monday as they travel to Greencastle.

Chargers swept by SAC rival Bruins

North Montgomery hit the road on Thursday for a Sagamore Conference matchup with Tri-West. The girls came up just short while the boys were also defeated as the Bruins swept the Chargers. The girls fell 84-86 while on the boys side the Chargers fell 45-129.

Annabel Anderson, James Burget, Maggie Michael and Gracen Schwabe all won events for the Chargers.

North Montgomery will be back in action on Monday night as they travel to Clinton Central

Mounties split on senior night

It was senior night for the Southmont swim and dive team Thursday as the Mounties hosted Greencastle. Bailey Barker, Adri Smith, Trent Jones, and Gabriel Lindley were all honored before the meet.

The lady Mounties earned a 92-82 win while the boys were defeated 78-90 as Southmont split the meet with the Tiger Cubs.

Along with Barker and Smith, Marley Jones took home two event wins. Paige Smith, Sami Mooday, and Faith Allen also took home wins for the Mounties. On the boys side Jones and Logan Harman won two events while Aaron Evans, Hunter Gray, and Clay Allen each picked up wins as well.

Southmont will be home on Tuesday against Seeger.

Mustangs split with Patriots

Fountain Central hosted WRC foe Seeger Thursday in the pool and ended up splitting the meet with the Patriots.

The girls were defeated 56-110 while the boys were winners 83-65. 

The Mustangs will host South Putnam on Saturday.

Girls Basketball

Mustangs doubled up by Falcons

The Mustangs dug themselves a hole early, trailing 13-0 before bringing it to 16-13 in the first half, but ultimately fell 51-25 to the Falcons on Thursday.

With senior point guard Jerzi Hershberger out with an injury, freshman Brailey Hoagland led the Mustangs in both steals (5) and rebounds (7), also chipping in 6 points. Larissa Bowers added 9 points and 3 rebounds, while Hannah Prickett had 5 points and 5 rebounds. Audree Brown and KayLee Spragg scored 3 and 2 respectively. The girls varsity is off until Dec 17, when they face Attica in a girl/boy doubleheader at FC.

Mustang grappler’s down Trojans

Fountain Central wrestling hosted Covington on Thursday and were victorious 54-18.

The Mustangs will be back in action on Saturday at the Clinton Prairie Invite.
