Area cross country runners saw their seasons end on Saturday at the Brownsburg regional against some of the states’ top runners.
Southmont senior Vince Reimondo paced the local runners with a 90th place finish in 17:01. Crawfordsville senior Hutton Haas was 94th in 17:02 and sophomore Josh Inskeep 97th in 17:04. North Montgomery senior Jack Rogers was 131st in 17:30.
After advancing to the regional as a team, Crawfordsville’s boys placed 21st out of 25 teams. Brownsburg won the boys’ team title, while top ranked Carmel took the girls’ championship.
Colten Custer ran a time of 18:18, Jantzen Thayer 18:25, Alex Sanchez 18:35, Max Brumett 19:00, and Jackson Hill 22:10.
“Our boys set out and completed many goals this season, Crawfordsville coach Jared McMurry said. “Running well at the regional was the cherry on top. What a great season.”
North Montgomery freshman Drew Dark ran a 19:43.
Southmont Darby Cottrell completed her junior season with a time of 23:01.
“They both ran as well as I expected,” Southmont coach Shelley said about Cottrell and Reimondo. “I am proud of how they both ran. I look forward to seeing how well Vince does in track.”
Crawfordsville’s Katherine Novak finished with a time of 21:47, while Caroline Novak finished in 22:32, and Remy Swinford in 23:49.
“All three girls ran well,” McMurry said. “And the best part is, they are juniors and will be back next year.”
North Montgomery’s Katelyn Woolwine ran a time of 23:21, and Zoey McFarland a time of 26:01.
Fountain Central junior Raley Akers ran a time of 22:06, while Brailey Hoagland completed her senior season with a time of 23:00.
Sagamore Conference runners Casey Hummel from Danville, Jack Hearld from Danville and Christopher Angeles from Frankfort all qualified for the state finals as individuals. Hearld and Angeles finished third and fourth respectively in the boys’ race.
