Salvation Army needs bell ringers

The Salvation Army of Montgomery County is preparing for its Red Kettle campaign

The annual fundraising drive begins Nov. 22 and continues through Dec. 23. Donations received will provide assistance for families in need or those experiencing an emergency situation. Funding also is used to sponsor youth groups, gifts for nursing home residents and back-to-school items for students.

Donations from last year’s Red Kettle campaign assisted approximately 150 families during 2019.

To help meet the needs of local citizens, the Salvation Army is asking for more volunteer bell ringers.

Bell ringers will be stationed at Walmart, both Kroger locations and Save-A-Lot (formerly County Market).

“The assistance provided from these businesses, and volunteers, is essential for us to help provide for the community,” said Brenda Deckard of the Salvation Army.

To volunteer, visit the Salvation Army website or visit registertoring.com. Volunteers will need to sign up by entering the city, state or zip code. After doing so, volunteers can set up a preferred shift.
