LAFAYETTE — The Wabash College baseball team opened the 2025 season with a Sunday doubleheader against Manchester University at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette, Indiana. The Little Giants split the twin bill, losing game one 8-5 before earning a 14-4 win in game two that ended in seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
Wabash senior Camden Scheidt tied the school record for career triples by notching his 17th three-base hit in game two to equal the mark held by Jared Wolfe’ 19.
GAME 1 | Manchester 8, Wabash 5
Though it had plenty of opportunities, Wabash had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 11 Little Giants on base in an 8-5 loss at the hands of the Manchester Spartans on Sunday.
Grant Stratton (0-1) got the ball to start for Wabash (0-1) and took the loss.
Trailing 1-0, the Little Giants first put runs on the board in the second inning. Wabash got an RBI single from Michael Galanos, scoring Will McKinzie from third base.
The Spartans broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the fifth inning, when the Little Giants got back on the scoreboard. Wabash picked up two runs when a single from Will Phillips scored Ben Henke and McKinzie, which brought the score to 6-3 in favor of the Spartans.
Wabash kept the Spartans off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 6-5 in the sixth. The Little Giants recorded two runs when a single from McKinzie scored Brady Gilliam and Henke. The Little Giants were unable to get any closer, as Manchester added two runs to its tally on the way to an 8-5 final.

Wabash got contributions from every part of its lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Little Giants put 14 runs on the board and beat the Manchester Spartans 14-4.
Aidan McConnell (1-0) got the win out of the bullpen for Wabash (1-1). The right-hander went 1.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit. Robbie Manuzzi also pitched well, throwing 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none, and striking out two.
Trailing 3-0, the Little Giants first put runs on the board in the second inning. Will Wallace came across to score the lone run of the inning for Wabash and get the Little Giants on the board.
Wabash kept the Spartans off the board before tying it up in the third. Wabash put up two runs in the frame, punctuated with an RBI triple off the bat of Scheidt to tie the school record, which evened the score at 3-3.
That 3-3 tie turned into a 4-3 Wabash lead on a sacrifice fly from Gilliam in the fourth.
The Spartans then evened up the game at four before Wabash came back to retake its advantage in the fifth inning. The Little Giants scored nine runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Henke and a two-run single from Jackson Wannemuehler, bringing the Wabash advantage to 13-4.
The Little Giants kept Manchester off the scoreboard before expanding the lead to 14-4 in the seventh inning. Carson Vlcan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Wabash on a sacrifice fly from Wannemuehlerto to end the game on the ten-run rule.
