Schroeter commits to Wabash track and field

Crawfordsville’s Nate Schroter is headed to Wabash College to throw for the Little Giants track and field team.

Schroeter was the Athenians’ top thrower this past season, winning the Sagamore Conference title in the discus and placing second in the shot put.

“Growing up in Crawfordsville around Wabash and hearing and seeing how great of a school it was everyday drove my college decision,” Schroeter said.

The recent Athenian graduate says after having success as a freshman at Crawfordsville, it made him work for a college opportunity. Schroeter also played football and basketball at Crawfordsville — helping prepare him for the next level.

“With playing multiple sports, I have grown to be a better rounded athlete,” he said. “Also by playing multiple sports I have learned to manage my time between practice and meets while still maintaining my grades.”

Schroeter is excited about the opportunity to not only compete at the collegiate level but for his hometown school.

“I hope to become a better athlete and create new relationships between my coaches and teammates,” he said. “I look forward to meeting new people and making memories.”

Schroeter plans to study economics.
