Scouts raising funds for Norton family

Posted

Members of Cub Scout Pack 909 are planning a fundraiser Saturday for one of their own.

Blaine Norton, a member of the local pack, was injured June 11 in a water accident and had been hospitalized at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis. The seven-year-old son of Patrick and Taylor Norton succumbed to those injuries Friday.

The pack is planning a fundraiser for the family 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 72, 101 Walter Remley Drive. There will be cornhole ($20 per team), hot dogs, popcorn, sno-cones, cotton candy, bounce house, dunk tank and silent auction. All proceeds will be donated to the Horton family.

Donors and donations for the silent auction, to date, include: Tabatha Frace, Extreme XC passes to a race and one pass for a participant; certificates from A Taste of Heaven by Jaime Pieper-Smith; a gift basket of hair products and more from Rita VanGilder at Stop One Salon; bracelet and earrings from Eliza’s on Main; a recliner from Caldwell’s Furniture; two handmade wooden canteens from Ole VanGilder; and various gift certificates from The Forum Family Restaurant, Jack’s Donuts, Darlicious, Barefoot Burger, The Big Dipper, ASI and Indiana Zip Lines.

Saturday’s event also will feature a cruise-in, “Wheels Up for Blaine.” Cars, trucks and motorcycles are invited to set up in the legion parking lot. Organizes are asking for a $15 donation per entry.

Anyone wishing to donate items or who have questions about the fundraiser should call Rita Vangilder at 765-366-2517 or Latisha Kemp at 765-401-0377.
