INDIANAPOLIS — Sugar Creek Swim Club members traveled March 13-16 to Pike High School to compete in the Indiana Spring Senior Championships. There were 680 competitors from all over the state, including some college athletes, who swam for a state title.
SCSC had five athletes compete in this prestigious event including, Melanie Dowd, Dusty Robinson, Shawn Ewoldt, Guinevere Schmitzer-Torbert and Marshal Templeman. The athletes swam a total of 16 events over the four-day championship with Templeman placing 26th in the men’s 200 yard breaststroke, scoring 5 points for SCSC.
Individual results include:
• Dowd placed 35th in the girls open 1650 freestyle (20:18.85); and placed 98th in the girls open 100 freestyle (59.15).
• Ewoldt placed 57th in the boys open 100 breaststroke (1:02.80); and 62nd in the boys open 200 breaststroke (2.22.83).
• Robinson placed 37th in the girls open 400 IM (4:57.11); 39th in the girls open 200 backstroke (2:15.41); 56th in the girls open 100 backstroke (1:02.32); and 79th in the girls open 200 IM (2:24.04).
• Schmitzer-Torbert placed 80th in the girls open 100 freestyle (56.43); 51st in the girls open 100 breaststroke (1:10.81); 66th in the girls open 50 freestyle (25.54); and 64th in the girls open 200 IM (2:18.71).
• Templeman placed 129th in the boys open 100 freestyle (54.44); 38th in the boys open 100 breaststroke (1:02.05); 26th in the boys open 200 breaststroke (2:13.56); and 76th in the boys open 200 IM (2:08.92).
SCSC will be back in action this weekend at the IU Natatorium for the Indiana Age Group Championships.
