Senior athlete bracket update: Final Four Bound

Posted

And then there were four.

The senior athlete bracket challenge is down to the final four.

The four athletes remaining have all become some of the best to ever wear their respective schools’ uniforms.

North Montgomery’s Kade Kobel and Drew Webster, Crawfordsville’s Lauren Kellerman and Southmont’s Lexi Nelson.

Kobel will face Kellerman in one semifinal.

Kobel has lettered 14 times as a Charger in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. He was the Journal Review track and field athlete of the year in 2018 after advancing to the state finals in the long jump, and the 2019 football player of the year. He also owns the school record in both the 110 high hurdles and 300 hurdles. Kellerman finished her career with over 1,000 points on the hardwood. She ran three years of cross country, and lettered as a senior in volleyball. Kellerman also recorded 60 hits in 111 at-bats as a junior softball player last spring.

Webster will face Nelson in the other semifinal.

Webster was the 2019 Journal Review football player of the year, and is the two-time defending wrestler of the year. He ranks fourth in school history with 120 wins in wrestling, and was a two-time state placer at 220 pounds. Nelson ranked third in the state last fall with 630 kills, helping lead the Mounties to their first volleyball sectional title since 1993. She will continue her volleyball career at Urbana University next fall.
