Senior athletes advance to next round

A total of 32 senior athletes advanced to the second round of the Area March Madness bracket with the intent to give recognition to senior athletes while they await the fate of their final seasons.

Kade Kobel, a 14-time varsity letter-winner for North Montgomery now faces Crawfordsville’s Owen Bennett, who played tennis last fall and is hopeful to return to behind the plate for the Athenians this spring.

Fresh off a record-breaking swim season, Southmont’s Emma Tyler will face fellow Mountie classmate Reese Long, who helped the Mounties to a tennis sectional title last fall and is ready for his last ride on the diamond.

Crawfordsville three-sport athlete Peyton Sinnet is hopeful to return to the track one more time, and faces North Montgomery softball player Grace Little.

Southmont’s Mia Myers, who won three soccer sectional titles faces fellow Mountie Clayton Downey, who helped the Mounties to a SAC wrestling title and is hopeful of returning for a senior golf season.

Crawfordsville 1,000-point scorer Lauren Kellerman now faces Southmont three-sport athlete Claire Remley.

Fresh off leading North Montgomery boys’ basketball in scoring, Jaron Bradford now faces Crawfordsville football do-it-all man Jesse Hortin.

Southmont three-sport man Ty Welliever now faces Crawfordsville’s Abby Bannon, who is hopeful of pulling a double in softball and track and field this spring.

Jane Scheidler helped the Mounties to a swim sectional title this winter and now faces Crawfordsville’s Cale McCarty who without a doubt deserves one more baseball season.

Southmont’s Lexie Odum led the Mounties to yet another soccer title last fall and has record-breaking aspirations for track and field this spring, she will now face teammate and three-sport Mountie athlete Emma Ward.

North Montgomery volleyball and basketball standout Emily Sennett now faces fellow Charger classmate Kai Warren, who has unfinished business on the baseball diamond.

Southmont speedster Nathan France now faces classmate and fellow three-sport Mountie athlete Bailey Thompson.

Conner McVay ended his high school career for the Mounties this winter in basketball, he now faces North Montgomery’s Drew Webster, who is coming off a second straight wrestler of the year award.

Keifer Carmean had a breakout football season for North Montgomery last fall and now faces Crawfordsville distance runner Eli Widmer, who was the cross country runner of the year last fall.

Southmont golfer Trevor McKinney wants to return to the links this spring, he now faces Crawfordsville’s Madison Fry, who is a multi-winner of the cross country runner of the year award.

Crawfordsville’s Karsten Williamson just finished a standout basketball career and now faces two-time volleyball player of the year Lexi Nelson.
