• What are you doing to stay busy and stay in shape during this time?

I have been playing 2K, lifting and doing core most nights of the week. Also, I have been tanning and staying outside some.

• Do you have any advice for underclassmen?

I’m not going to be super cliche and say “these years go by quicker than you think,” and although that’s very true, there’s much more than that. Sports are such a wonderful thing and Fountain Central sports are the best to be a part of. We may not be the greatest teams in every sport, but we all know how to be a family and we all have this FC mentality that’s so much fun to play with. We are lucky to grow up in a community where it’s common to play more than one sport. Bigger schools often do not provide that same opportunity. Playing multiple sports grants you many more memories and more friendships and bonds that will last a lifetime. As an underclassman, I wasn’t the greatest by any means, but having that drive and determination shows you what your role can truly be. I never thought I’d be in the position I ended up being in for tennis, but years of hard work and a good attitude led me to an amazing and successful four years in the sport. In basketball, as a three-year JV player, many people were surprised when I decided to play all four years, but it was the greatest choice of my life. If I hadn’t played, the team wouldn’t have had the role that I brought to the table. I may not have been the greatest on the court with my play, but I was always behind my team every step of the way. I guess what I am trying to say is that sports are not just something to see as an occupation of time, but they should be seen as an opportunity to find yourself and develop. Sports changed my life, and I wish I could get them back.

• What do you miss about the spring sports season?

I miss managing with one of my best friends, Cody Linville. I miss always getting to be with my favorite coaches of all time, Coach Webb and Coach Kight. I also miss bringing a smile to many faces on the team.

• What are your future plans?

I plan to go to Purdue for pharmacy.

• Coach Webb on Denton

“Denton has always had a good attitude in practice and in match play. His senior year, he went beyond a good attitude and added leader and competitor. He is one of the best teammates a coach could ask for, and he will be missed next year.”
