• Favorite Athlete in Your Sport:  It’s hard to have a favorite college or pro player when they’re all so good. Therefore, my favorite athlete is Fountain Central’s starting varsity first baseman, Shelby Marshall. Not only is she my best friend but she is one of our key players. I have never seen anyone have more fun on that field than her. If you’ve ever watched her play, then you know what I’m talking about when I say she doesn’t stop laughing. She is most definitely going to do some great things going into her senior year!

• Other Sports: Cheer & Competitive Dance

• What are your favorite memories from this sport?

There are three memories that I think everyone on our team should relive when they hear them. Coach Walke hit the woah and moon-walked after one of our games. At the Rockville double-header, we threw a 2-pitch inning after intentionally walking one girl to win the game 4-3. My last one is the one I’m going to miss the most–singing in the locker room, dugout, or on the bus before every single game.

• Do you have any advice for underclassmen?

Don’t take anything for granted and play your heart out every time you hit the field.  Little did I know that I would break my hand my junior year at South Putnum and that would be my last high school game ever.

• What do you miss about the spring sports season?

I am going to miss our annual pool party at my house and donuts in the parking lot before a Saturday double-header.

• What are your future plans?

I will attend Marian University in the fall to major in nursing.

• Coach Walke on Shy

“Shy is one of the most team-first players I have ever coached.  She played multiple positions, always doing whatever the team needed.”
