Sheridan Ann Barr, 79, of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville after a long fight with Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born Jan. 23, 1941, at Crawfordsville, to Clarence and Katherine Stout and was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1958. Sherry married Frank H. Barr on Nov. 14, 1959, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and they were married for over 61 wonderful years. Sherry was a homemaker and foster parent.

She is survived by husband Frank; three sons, Tony (Kathy) Barr, Tracey (Sharon) Barr and Eric (Megan) Barr; three daughters, Carolyn J. (John) Bussey, Danielle (Jeff) Sergent and Teresa (Jason) West; 11 grandchildren, Vincent Barr, Sarah (Eric) Rhoads, Ryan Barr, Eric (Cassandra) Barr Jr., Chris (Lizzie) Barr, Trent Jenkins, Haley Busse, Hanna Busse, Trinaty (Craig) Carr, Athena West and Ceres West; and three great-grandchildren, Logan and Lincoln Carr, and Riley Rhoads. She is also survived by two sisters, Marcia Knee of Darlington and Janet McHenry of Canton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Kevin Stout and Tom Stout; and nephew Chuck Knee, whom they raised.

Sherry was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was dedicated to providing a loving home for not only her own children, but for children in need of a loving home. Sherry and her husband cared for more than 500 children in their home as foster parents for many decades and remained close to several of their foster children over the years. She was also a den mother for the Boy Scouts for several years. Sherry was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and loved to play cards with friends and family and spend time with her grandchildren. Sherry will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with Father Michael Bower officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
