Sherri Lynn Brasker, RN, 63, of Wingate passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2021, in Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 24, 1957, at Danville, Illinois, to the late Ronald and Judith Abernathy Brasker.
Sherri was a 1976 graduate of Seeger Memorial High School and graduated from Ivy Tech State College as a registered nurse in 2003. She had been employed by IU Arnett Hospital and Franciscan St. E. East Hospital.
Sherri loved animals and was very fond of her cats and dogs. She was known to find strays along the road, take them in and give them love.
Sherri is survived by two brothers, John (Yvonne) Brasker of Zionsville and their children Nicole and Jason, and her twin brother, Max Brasker of Wingate; and her dear friend, Donia (Josh) Webb and daughter Kaia of Romney.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sherri was a very kind and caring soul. In keeping with that spirit, Sherri unselfishly “donated life” by providing organs and tissue to benefit the lives of others. Her family and friends would like to thank the Nursing Honor Guard of Central Indiana for the special service they provided Sherri. They also wish to thank Indiana Donor Network for their compassionate response to Sherri’s wishes, the nurses and staff at Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis for the loving care provided to Sherri in her final weeks.
A public gathering of family and friends with a memorial service will held at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate and will be announced soon.
