Shirk to represent Mounties in North/South All-Star Game

Posted

While Macie Shirk may be done wearing the Southmont uniform and putting up insane numbers at the plate, she isn’t quite done with her softball career.

The senior was selected as one of the 42 seniors across the state to play in the annual Indiana Softball North/South All-Star game.

The honor for Shirk makes her just the third player in Southmont histtory to play in All-Star game.

Shirk will travel down to Indiana University on June 24-25 to play and compete against some of the best competition the state has to offer.

The honor comes after Shirk had a historic season at the plate for the Mounties where she finished first in the Sagamor Conference in batting average (.535), home runs (11), slugging percentage (1.127), runs batted in (40), and on base percentage (.580).

Her 11 home-runs tied the single season school record for Southmont as she and the Mounties crushed the previous school record and ended the season with 21 bombs as a team.

Shirk will represent District 3 and get the opportunity to play alongside players from the likes of Westfield, Mooresville, Sullivan, Ben Davis, and Bishop Chatard, just to name a few.

While her softball career will be coming to an end as she’ll play golf for St. Mary’s of the Woods in the fall, Shirk gets to cap off what’s been nothing short of a dominating and historic career with the highest honor a senior softball player can receive.

The Mountie faithful will get one final chance to watch Shirk crush a softball down in Bloomington
