Shirley Marie Priest, 90, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.
She was born Dec. 26, 1929, at Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Harold and Helen (Brennan) Runyon. After graduating from Ladywood High School in Indianapolis in 1948, she worked at RR Donnelly where she met her husband, Theron Lee Priest. On March 21, 1952, they married and began their life together in Crawfordsville.
Despite being busy with a growing family, Shirley volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and enjoyed her Ladies’ Card Club Group. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband visiting Rome, Ireland, The Vatican and all over the United States.
Shirley is survived by husband Theron Lee Priest; and four children, Cheryl Vannice of Crawfordsville, Sally (Garry) Jarvis of Wentzville, Missouri, Tammy (Alan) Davis of St. Charles, Illinois, and Mark (Leanna) Priest of Fort Thomas, Kentucky. In addition, she leaves behind six grandchildren, Tiffany Jarvis of Austin, Texas, Amanda (Mike) Reed of Blue Springs, Missouri, Connor Davis of Santa Barbara, California, Zachary Priest of Loveland, Ohio, Kayla Davis of Greenville, South Carolina and Sara (Jordan) Bradshaw of Duluth, Georgia. Shirley enjoyed her three great-grandchildren, Payton Smith, Zekiah Tucker and Zoe Reed as well. Shirley is also survived by her sister, JoAnne Gates; and brothers, Leo Runyon and Richard Runyon.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jackie Hession and Theresa Davidson; brothers, Ted and Ron Runyon; son-in-law Greg Vannice; and one infant child, Kevin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1306 E. Main St., Crawfordsville. Visitation will be at the church from 12-1 p.m., followed by a mass at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
