Shirley Jean Wittum of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2021, at her home. She was 85.

Mrs. Wittum was a member of First Assembly of God. She headed a quilter’s group that made quilts for Wheeler Mission. She liked to camp, do outdoor activities and travel with her husband.

Born May 21, 1935, at Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of Pauline Coon Sigsby. She was raised by George and Alvina Kettler. She attended Beecher High School. She married Vern Wittum on Sept. 9, 1952. He passed away Dec. 13, 2019.

Surviving family includes: three daughters, Cindy L. Wittum, Carolyn (Gary) Hanson and Cathleen M. (Hugh) Robbins; sister Joyce M. Coon Ketchum; brother James C. Sigsby; and four grandchildren, Heather M. (Nick) Mortara, Ryan R. (Shania) Hanson, Carrie J. (Brent) Dehaven and Haley B. (Brad) Copeland.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by granddaughter Randi Jean Hanson; three brothers, Darwin K. Coon, Archie James Coon and Lester V. Coon; and two sisters, Joann Coon Austin Sirine and Georgine Coon Austin Kennedy.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Road, Flint, Michigan. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park.
