NEW MARKET — Southmont girls tennis got their 2022 season started off with a 4-1 victory over McCutcheon Wednesday evening.
Southmont swept all three singles spots as Hanna Long was victorious 6-1, 6-3 at one singles. Bailey Barker picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles, and No. 3 singles Marley Jones came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win. At No. 1 doubles the duo of Dori Frederick and Alexa Bradley notched a 6-0, 1-6, 6-1 win. The No. 2 doubles team of Chaney Scott and Kela Johnson fell in tough 5-7, 4-6 defeat.
The Mounties begin the year 1-0 and will quickly shift their focus to the first county matchup of the year as they will host Crawfordsville next Tuesday.
