The President’s Distinguished Speaker Series at Wabash College is pleased to present Dr. Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University, whose research focuses on Generation Z.
Twenge will give a talk entitled, “iGen: Understanding the Smartphone Generation,” at
8 p.m. Wednesday in Salter Hall of the Fine Arts Center. A question-answer session will follow her lecture. Twenge is the author of more than 140 scientific publications and six books including “iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy–and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood,” which explores how and why this generation of young adults is different than the generations before it.
Her public talks and workshops draw on a data set of 11 million young people and help parents, educators, and coaches teach and work with today’s youth.
Twenge’s research has been featured in Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, USA Today, U.S. News and World Report, and The Washington Post, and she has appeared on several national television and radio shows.
She holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Chicago and a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan.
Twenge’s upcoming lecture is free and open to the public.
