Post 72 drops game to Danville, Ill.
Post 72’s five-game win streak ended Tuesday in pitchers’ duel at Danville, Illinois. The local squad lost 2-1.
Starting Post 72 pitcher Dylan Ford took the loss while giving up just four hits and 4.1 innings.
Drake Hoffa pitched in relief for the final 1.2 innings allowing no runs and two hits.
Post 72 was handcuffed by Danville hurler Jared Rangle who gave up seven hits and struck out seven for the complete game victory.
Post 72 (5-2) scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning when Jackson Warner put a pitch over the centerfield fence to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Danville scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, which proved to be all they needed for the victory.
Warner and Jude Coursey each had two hits for Post 72.
Next up for Post 72 is the Terre Haute Invitational. The local team will play at noon today against Terre Haute at Rose Hulman followed by a 5 p.m. game with Eureka, Missouri at Terre Haute North High School. On Friday. Post 72 will return to Terre Haute North for a 1:30 p.m. game against Madison. The tournament will conclude Saturday with times and opponent to be determined.
32 Pomeroys named NAIA Scholar-Athletes
SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS — Thirty-two Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College student-athletes have been named 2025 Daktronics NAIA Spring Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Included are: Nolan Allen of Crawfordsville; Bailey Barker of Ladoga; Bailey Mittal of Crawfordsville; Macie Shirk of Crawfordsville; and Emily Fitzwater of Covington.
This prestigious honor recognizes student-athletes across spring sports who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. To qualify, recipients must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and have completed at least one full year at their institution.
The award encompasses several spring championship sports, including baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, track and field, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, and women’s beach volleyball.
