GIRLS WRESTLING

CHS has two champs at Speedway

Crawfordsville had four wrestlers compete in Saturday’s Speedway Invitational and had two individual champions.

Kassidy Richmond won the 145 class and Jazmen Russell won the 170 class. Both wrestlers went 4-0 on the day.

Michelle Montes placed fourth at 170 and Breseith Morales placec seventh at 120.

Crawfordsville will travel to Greencastle on Thursday.

 

Mustangs place fourth

Fountain Central placed fourth out of 20 teams at the Speedway Invitational.

All seven Mustangs earned the right to step on the podium.

Savanna Richardson, Ruby Deel and Giselle Ruiz placed third and Anna Baker placed fourth. Placing fifth was Lydia Perkins, Araya Brown and Amira Welles.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Chargers beat Attica

North Montgomery started Saturday’s game against Attica by scoring the first 22 points of the game and eventually won 55-20.

The Chargers were led by Piper Ramey’s 25 points. Macee Norman scored 14 points.

North Montgomery  (3-1) plays Frankfort at home today.

 

Mustangs defeat Rossville

Fountain Central defeated Rossville 37-23 on Friday.

Hannah Prickett led the Mustangs with 12 points. Henley Good added 10 points.

The Mustangs (4-2) travel to Crawfordsville today.

 

Parke Heritage wins tourney

The Parke Heritage varsity girls basketball team won the Banks of the Wabash Tournament held at North Vermillion on Saturday.

The  Wolves defeated North Vermillion 66-23 to claim the championship for the fourth consecutive year.

In the first game, the Wolves defeated South Vermillion 69-7.

 

Simpson reaches scoring milestone

Parke Heritage High School senior girls basketball player Emma Simpson reached a major milestone and set history on Nov. 14. She became the all-Time scoring leader with 1,405 points. This is the most points ever by a Rockville, Turkey Run or Parke Heritage player in all three schools history.

 

WABASH CROSS COUNTRY

Curnutt places first

Wabash College senior Brayden Curnutt crossed the finish line at the 2024 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Men’s Cross Country Championship in first place to claim the individual title and earn a berth to the NCAA DIII National Championships on Saturday. His victory comes two weeks after winning the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Championship title. Curnutt toured the course in 24:36.83 to set a new personal best time

 

WABASH WRESTLING

Team celebrates seniors

The Wabash College wrestling team celebrated its Senior Day match with a 27-14 victory over the University of Chicago after honoring senior members Ray Arebalo, Chase Baczek, Trescott Duffy and Mawuli Nevis on Friday at Chadwick Court. The Little Giants, ranked 24th in the latest dual-meet poll from The Open Mat.

Wabash returns to action Saturday when the Little Giants compete at the Concordia University of Wisconsin Open.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

North 7th wins Frankfort tourney

The seventh grade basketball team at North Montgomery Middle School won the Frankfort Shootout on Saturday.

The Chargers defeated Wainwright in the championship game 33-27. Cash Cole led the Chargers with 14 points and Will Dark added eight points.

In the first game, the Chargers defeated Fountain Central 50-18 and were led by Bryson Lough’s 12 points and Cole’s 11 points. Dark added eight points.
