Athenians win in OT
Crawfordsville girls’ basketball team got its first win in two years with an overtime victory at home against Attica on Tuesday.
After being tied 32-32 at the end of regulation, the Athenians won 37-36.
Crawfordsville got off to a 14-9 start after one quarter, but the Red Ramblers rallied in the second quarter. The Athenians led 23-21 at halftime.
The win was the first Athenian win for head coach Joe Ferguson who is in his second year leading Crawfordsville.
Crawfordsville (1-0) played at Seeger on Thursday.
Mounties defeat Tiger Cubs
Southmont girls’ basketball team defeated Greencastle 57-26 on Tuesday.
The Mounties led early and never allowed the Tiger Cubs to lead in the game.
The Mounties were led by freshman Ella Barry who scored 21 points in her first varisty game. Sophomores Molly Williams and Layla Gomez each scored 10 points. Gomez added eight rebounds.
Southmont (1-0) will play at Clinton Central on Saturday.

Holsclaw earns NCAC honors
Wabash College junior cornerback Mike Holsclaw earned North Coast Athletic Conference Football - Defense Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts in Saturday’s 24-23 victory by the Little Giants over Denison University.
Holsclaw made a season-high seven solo tackles and secured an interception on Denison’s final drive of the game to help Wabash secure the win. Holsclaw’s interception improved the Little Giants’ mark of at least one interception in its last nine games dating back to last season. Holsclaw’s pick was his third of the season, most among Wabash players.
The victory helped the Little Giants remain in a tie for first place in the conference standings with two games remaining in the regular season.
