State awards $3.4M for road projects

Area communities have received a combined $5 million in funding for road projects through the state’s Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

Attica, Boone County, Clinton County, Covington, Hendricks County, Putnam County, Thorntown and Tippecanoe County were among the counties and towns awarded money in the latest round of grants.

To qualify for funding, local governments must provide local matching funds from a road or bridge construction fund.

The Community Crossings initiative has provided more than $931 million in state matching funds for local construction projects since 2016.
