Steven Lee Osting passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at Franciscan Health Lafayette, after a battle with pneumonia, at the age of 79.
He was a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He was born Feb. 1, 1946, at Crawfordsville to Henry and Thelma (Stevens) Osting. Steve graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1964. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corp and was a drill instructor in the Vietnam War. When he came home he worked for the Crawfordsville Police Department for a few years in the 1970s. He later worked in insurance sales.
Steve married the love his life, Anne Jones, on July 18, 1981. She survives. Their ventures in life included part owner and owners of the Pizza Cottage and Club 136 in Crawfordsville, plus working at RR Donnelley & Sons.
They moved to Haine City, Florida, in 1995, where they started their painting services. Steve loved Florida and made many new friends. He also loved riding motorcycles, driving old classic cars and of course, he loved music.
His wishes were to be cremated and any memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Post 72, 101 Walter Remley Drive, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 for the Veterans Memorial Park.
A celebration of life and welcome home is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Veterans Memorial Park adjacent to the American Legion Post.
